Baton Rouge: Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Aug. 16, 2014, decreased to 2,342 from the previous week's total of 2,364. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Aug. 17, 2013, figure of 2,634.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,328 from the previous week’s average of 2,378.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Aug. 16, 2014, decreased to 22,393 from the previous week’s total of 22,970. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Aug. 17, 2013, figure of 26,280.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 22,993 from the previous week’s average of 23,242.
