Baton Rouge: Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Aug. 31, 2013, decreased to 2,434 from the previous week's total of 2,505. Initial claims were above the comparable week ending Sept. 1, 2012, figure of 2,345.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,573 from the previous week’s average of 2,676.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Aug. 31, 2013, decreased to 25,203 from the previous week’s total of 25,947. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Sept. 1, 2012, figure of 31,512.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 26,080 from the previous week’s average of 26,506.
