Baton Rouge: Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending June 29, 2013, remained virtually unchanged at 3,027 from the previous week's total of 3,026. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending June 30, 2012, figure of 3,456.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 3,181 from the previous week’s average of 3,251.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending June 29, 2013, increased to 25,389 from the previous week’s total of 24,553. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending June 30, 2012, figure of 35,399.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed increased to 24,505 from the previous week’s average of 23,819.
The total number of people who filed a claim for regular unemployment insurance in Louisiana, and received at least one check during the reference month, increased to 21,396 in June 2013, up 1,369 from 20,027 in May 2013.
