Louisiana Unemployment Insurance Claims Report: June 7, 2013

Baton Rouge: Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending June 1, 2013, decreased to 3,306 from the previous week's total of 3,386. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending June 2, 2012, figure of 4,177.

The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 2,939 from the previous week’s average of 2,729.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending June 1, 2013, increased to 22,647 from the previous week’s total of 22,047. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending June 2, 2012, figure of 32,533.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 21,987 from the previous week’s average of 22,077.

The total number of people who filed a claim for regular unemployment insurance in Louisiana, and received at least one check during the reference month, decreased to 20,027 in May 2013, down 1,944 from 21,971 in April 2013.
