Baton Rouge: Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Nov. 24, 2012, decreased to 2,705 from the previous week's total of 2,875. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Nov. 26, 2011, figure of 3,014.
The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 2,818 from the previous week’s average of 2,784.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Nov. 24, 2012, decreased to 29,111 from the previous week’s total of 29,653. This was the lowest level since the week ending Nov. 29, 2008 with 28,944. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Nov. 26, 2011, figure of 40,027.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 29,834 from the previous week’s average of 30,189.
